Escape from the standard tourist routes
When you have had enough of the touristy Dubrovnik streets and beaches, choose Ston. This small town on the Peljesac peninsula is one of those underrated Dalmatian gems. You’ll get to see Europe’s longest city walls, try some of the world’s best oysters at their source (nature reserved Mali Ston Bay) and have a swim on a secluded island.
Our skipper is not just an amazing seaman, but also a Dubrovnik man born and bred. He’ll give you a story about Ston past and present from a local’s perspective. Make sure to ask him all the juicy stuff. He knows them all.
Slurp down some of the world’s best raw oysters
If you’re an oyster or seashell lover, prepare to discover your private heaven on Earth. Even if you do not believe in the aphrodisiacal qualities often attributed to these underwater wonders, their taste will be reason enough to take a private speedboat tour to Ston. You’ll get a chance to enjoy some of the world’s best raw oysters (known as Ostrea edulis, or European flat oysters) pulled from Mali Ston Bay just seconds earlier, along with other Dalmatian delicacies.
Discover local delicacies far away from tourists
We suggest visiting Gastro Mare restaurant in a small bay of Kobaš not far away from Ston, which can easily be described as a heaven for yachters and boaters. It’s one of the most renown restaurants in south Dalmatia. This family owned restaurant’s cuisine is based on fresh local ingredients and home made products, from olive oil to vegetables and fish. The owners produce their own olive oil which is a long tradition on Pelješac. Vegetables are either coming from their garden or from local farmers. You’ll see nets in front of the restaurant and a small fishing boat. This is because the fish on the menu is caught daily by the family and local fisherman.
